Kevin Nash Puts Aside Real-Life Issues To Praise CM Punk’s Raw Performance

Kevin Nash and CM Punk haven’t always seen eye-to-eye, but game recognizes game.

Despite a recent public “back and forth” between the two legends, Nash had nothing but compliments for Punk’s performance on the January 5 episode of Raw. In the main event, Punk successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship against the explosive challenger Bron Breakker. While Punk retained the gold, Nash believes the match was a masterclass in elevating both competitors.

“Beat somebody and make them, that’s a special piece of booking,” Nash explained on his Kliq This podcast. “It’s special on both the combatants, on their performances.”

The match saw Breakker push the champion to his absolute limit, showcasing his rare blend of speed and power before ultimately falling short. Nash highlighted the psychology of the bout, noting that Punk’s ability to give Breakker so much offense made the young star look like a legitimate threat, even in defeat.

“I thought it was a really well done, ‘I enjoyed the f*ck out of it’ match,” Nash added. “I really dug [the show].”

Nash’s praise is notable given the friction between the two in the past, suggesting that the quality of the work in the ring was undeniable. With Punk’s reign secure, he now looks ahead to the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia on January 31, while Breakker—who was medically cleared after a scary landing during the match—will look to regroup and find a new path to the main event scene.

Raw continues today from Berlin, Germany, where the fallout from this championship clash is expected to be a focal point of the show.
