TNA Wrestling has secured the future of one of its most dynamic athletes just days before the company begins a new era on AMC.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Cedric Alexander has officially re-signed with the promotion. The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion had been working under a short-term agreement that was originally scheduled to expire around the Bound For Glory event in late 2025. However, following a successful tenure that saw him revitalize his career in the X-Division, both parties have come to terms on a new deal that will keep him in the Impact Zone for the foreseeable future.
Alexander’s journey to TNA began in 2025 after he departed WWE, where he had established himself as a premier high-flyer and a member of the popular Hurt Business faction. Since arriving in TNA, he has seamlessly integrated into the roster, becoming a focal point of the X-Division and consistently delivering standout performances. His re-signing is seen as a significant victory for TNA management, especially as they look to solidify their core roster heading into 2026. The promotion has seen some notable departures recently, including Joe Hendry moving to WWE and Jake Something (now Jake Doyle) jumping to AEW, making the retention of a veteran talent like Alexander all the more critical.
The news also puts to rest lingering speculation regarding a potential reunion of the Hurt Business outside of TNA. In November 2025, Alexander sparked rumors when he appeared alongside former stablemates MVP and Shelton Benjamin at Wrestlecade. While the reunion generated buzz among fans hoping to see the group reform on a national stage, Alexander’s decision to commit to TNA signals that his priority is carving out his own legacy as a singles competitor.
His immediate focus is now squarely on championship gold. Alexander is scheduled for a massive opportunity this Saturday, January 17, at the TNA Genesis pay-per-view in Garland, Texas. He will challenge for the TNA X-Division Championship in a three-way match against reigning champion Leon Slater and former world champion Moose. This bout represents Alexander’s best chance yet to capture his first title in TNA.
Alexander enters the Genesis title fight with significant momentum following the final Impact broadcast on AXS TV earlier this week. In the main event of the January 8 episode, Alexander teamed with Slater and The Hardys to defeat The System in a chaotic eight-man tag team match. Crucially, it was Alexander who scored the pinfall victory, rolling up Moose to secure the win for his team. That visual of pinning a former world champion has positioned him as a legitimate threat to walk out of Texas with the X-Division title this weekend.
