John Cena is well aware that his final match was polarizing, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Speaking at FAN EXPO in New Orleans, Cena addressed the criticism regarding his decision to tap out to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Rather than defending the choice as a mere wrestling booking decision, he embraced the mixed reaction.
“Losing my last match against GUNTHER. Thank you for reminding me that you’re allowed to have your opinion,” Cena said. “I think it was a perfect end, because a whole lot of people thought it sucked, a whole lot of people thought it was special, and that’s kind of been my story for 23 years.”
Cena emphasized that he values critical opinions and believes the story he told was true to his career arc.
