Chris Jericho is officially a free agent following the expiration of his AEW contract, and the rumor mill is spinning regarding a potential WWE return. While many expected him to appear on the first Raw of 2026, that date came and went without Y2J. Now, all eyes are on the Royal Rumble in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on January 31. Former WWE Superstar David Otunga has a bold idea for how that return should go down.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, the former Nexus member argued that if Jericho enters the Rumble, he shouldn’t just be a nostalgia act—he should go all the way.
“If Jericho shows up at Royal Rumble, he has to win or somebody screws him out of the win and that goes into the story. I think that would be awesome. I think that would be perfect.”
Otunga believes that a Rumble victory, or a controversial elimination that sparks a major WrestleMania feud, is the only way to capitalize on a star of Jericho’s magnitude returning to the company after so many years away.
