Becky Lynch Reveals “Burnout” Forced Them To Ask Triple H For Time Off

The second season of WWE Unreal has officially arrived on Netflix, peeling back the curtain on some of the most personal moments in the lives of the roster. The premiere episode focuses heavily on Becky Lynch, offering a candid look at the mental and physical toll of her run at the top, as well as the early days of her relationship with Seth Rollins.

“I Was Pretty Burnt Out”

Lynch opened up about her decision to step away from the ring in mid-2024 following the culmination of her feud with Liv Morgan. She revealed that after years of running “on all cylinders” since returning from maternity leave, the balancing act of superstardom and motherhood had left her exhausted.

“2024, I was pretty burnt out, and I said ‘okay, I think this is a good pause.’ I had been going on all cylinders since I came back from having my daughter. I love WWE, but I was away from her quite a bit and I felt like when I’d come home, she’d be mad at me, you know, and I hated that.”

She detailed a pivotal conversation with Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque in May 2024, where she essentially asked to press pause on her career.

“May 2024, I told Hunter, I said, ‘Look, my contract’s up, I wanna take some time off,’ and he said ‘okay, well, look, we’ll pause it. We’ll give you a little bit of time and then we’ll renegotiate the contract when you’re ready.’ So that’s what we did.”

The break allowed Lynch to reconnect with her daughter, Roux, finding joy in simple moments like gymnastics class cartwheels rather than the roar of the crowd. She eventually returned at WrestleMania 41, replacing an injured Bayley to team with Lyra Valkyria against Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.

“God, Get A Room”

Elsewhere in the episode, WWE legend and producer Michael Hayes shared a humorous story about how he first discovered that Lynch and Seth Rollins were an item. The revelation came backstage at WrestleMania 35, moments before Lynch was set to make history in the main event.

“I remember the first time I found out that Becky and Seth were an item, and I had no idea, and it was the last time we were at Metlife Stadium for WrestleMania. Then Becky was about to go on, and I was behind gorilla and all of a sudden, I see them making out. I think I even joked like, ‘God get a room’.”

What started as a backstage secret has since blossomed into a marriage and a family, with both stars now navigating the unique challenges of being a power couple in the spotlight.
