The WWE Women’s Tag Team division has become one of the most intriguing parts of television in recent months, anchored by the powerhouse duo of Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky. Since capturing the titles on the January 5, 2026, taping of Raw by defeating the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane), the champions have had targets on their backs. With multiple teams staking their claims for a shot at gold, the division has devolved into a chaotic scene of match interferences and violent segments.
Despite the chaos, Ripley and Sky have managed to hold onto their championships. They successfully defended the titles against The Judgment Day’s Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLIII, and they are currently scheduled to face Women’s United States Champion Giulia and Kiana James next. However, with the “Road to WrestleMania” officially underway, speculation has already begun regarding who “RHIYO” will face on the grandest stage of them all in Las Vegas.
On a recent episode of the Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE personality Sam Roberts discussed the trajectory of the champions heading into WrestleMania 42, which takes place on April 18 and 19. While the Royal Rumble match often leads to tag teams drifting apart due to the “every woman for herself” nature of the contest, Roberts believes Ripley and Sky will survive the season intact. He noted that while teams like The Judgment Day and the duo of Nia Jax and Lash Legend have tried to drive a wedge between them, the champions are too good to split up right now.
“I think the team is too good, and I kind of think the team stays together through WrestleMania,” Roberts said. Instead of a breakup angle, Roberts pitched a blockbuster tag team match involving two of the most decorated women in history. “I think their WrestleMania match, if it were up to me, at this point, I’d go RHIYO vs. Charlotte and Alexa, and really build it up as a massive match.”
A showdown between the dominant champions and the iconic pairing of Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss would undoubtedly be a marquee attraction for the event in Nevada. With Flair and Bliss both possessing Hall of Fame resumes, a tag team clash of this magnitude would elevate the titles significantly. For now, Ripley and Sky must focus on their immediate challengers, but the prospect of a super-fight in Las Vegas looms large on the horizon.
