Season two of the hit Netflix reality series WWE Unreal dropped on January 20, giving fans unprecedented access to the backstage chaos of the wrestling world. While the show has been a hit with viewers, not every superstar is thrilled with how much is being shown. During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk revealed the one aspect of the series that rubs him the wrong way.
“To Me, Gorilla Is Sacred”
“What I don’t like is peeling back the curtain a little bit too much,” Punk stated. His primary grievance lies with the footage filmed in the Gorilla Position, the nerve center of WWE production just behind the entrance curtain. “To me, Gorilla is sacred. They shoot so much stuff in Gorilla that I don’t think a lot of the time is anybody’s business.”
However, Punk wasn’t entirely negative about the project. He praised the series for adding depth to the larger-than-life characters on the roster. “Humanizing people like Charlotte Flair or Rhea Ripley and showing the human behind the character that they play on TV, I think that stuff is beautiful,” he added.
