Fans hoping to catch WrestleMania 42 at a local bar or venue in Las Vegas may be out of luck. According to a report from Fightful, the distributor for the event has informed numerous establishments within a 50-mile radius of the city that they will be unable to broadcast the pay-per-view, even if they are willing to pay the licensing fee.
WWE Aiming To Increase Ticket Sales
The new protocol is reportedly designed to drive ticket sales for the live event at Allegiant Stadium. By restricting local broadcasts, the company hopes to encourage locals and tourists to attend the show in person rather than watching from nearby venues. WWE did not respond to requests for comment on the situation.
Sources indicated that this decision has caused frustration among local business owners, who argue that it could negatively impact their revenue, particularly given the importance of combat sports broadcasting in the city. While some smaller operations may attempt to bypass the rule, the restriction puts a damper on the local atmosphere for the event. This year’s WrestleMania was originally slated for New Orleans before pivoting to Las Vegas for the second consecutive year. WWE has promised a future edition of the show to Louisiana, while next year’s spectacle is scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia.
