Big E Reveals Ridge Holland Sent Him “10 Pounds Of Meat” As Apology For Neck Injury

The wrestling world held its collective breath in March 2022 when Big E suffered a catastrophic neck injury on SmackDown following a belly-to-belly suplex from Ridge Holland. The injury effectively ended Big E’s in-ring career, forcing him into early retirement. Despite the tragic circumstances, the former WWE Champion has maintained a remarkable level of grace and forgiveness. In a recent interview with 107.7 The Bone, Big E shared details about his interaction with Holland immediately following the accident.

“That’s How Men Say I’m Sorry”

Big E revealed that Holland reached out right away with a unique peace offering. “I talked to Ridge right after it happened. He actually sent me a 10-pound box of meat as well. That’s how men say I’m sorry, ‘Here’s a box of meat,’” Big E recounted. He emphasized that he harbored no ill will toward his colleague, understanding the inherent risks of the profession. “Things happen in our industry… It wasn’t malicious. I told him immediately there was no hard feelings.”

The conversation took a somber turn as Big E touched on Holland’s struggles since the incident. He acknowledged the online harassment Holland received and dropped a nugget of news regarding Holland’s employment status. “I know unfortunately he’s gotten a lot of flack online, and I know he’s dealt with injuries of his own. He’s dealt also with losing his job. My heart in many ways goes out to him and I hope he’s doing okay.”

Moving Forward With Gratitude

Big E’s perspective serves as a powerful reminder of the brotherhood that exists within the locker room, even in the face of life-altering events. “There was never a moment of ill will at all for me. It’s the nature of what we do. You signed up for something that is incredibly fun, incredibly rewarding, but also has very inherent dangers as well.”

While Big E has transitioned into a broadcasting role, the status of Ridge Holland remains less clear following Big E’s comments about him “losing his job,” suggesting the former Brawling Brutes member may no longer be with the company.
