Following the shocking announcement on Raw that Bron Breakker is out of action “indefinitely,” new details have emerged regarding the severity of his injury. While Paul Heyman claimed on television that Breakker suffered a hernia while deadlifting, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports that the situation is more complex. According to Meltzer, Breakker had been dealing with the issue “for a while” before it suddenly worsened, requiring emergency surgery.
“This Was A Major Operation”
Meltzer clarified that the procedure was not a standard laparoscopy but a “major operation,” which carries a significantly longer recovery time. “He’ll be out for a while… Could be 12 weeks, could be six months at worst,” Meltzer stated. He also dismissed the on-screen explanation of a deadlifting accident and shut down online rumors that Breakker’s early elimination from the Royal Rumble was injury-related. “It had nothing to with any bookings… It was just like he got checked out and had to have emergency surgery.”
While Meltzer labeled talk of the injury being “career-ending” as an exaggeration, the timing is disastrous for WWE‘s plans. A reported WrestleMania 42 clash with Seth Rollins is now in serious jeopardy, as it is unclear if Breakker can recover in time for the April event.
