Kenny Omega has done it all in professional wrestling, and it appears “The Cleaner” is now looking to give back. In a new interview with Justin Barrasso, the former AEW World Champion opened up about his shifting priorities. While he recently lost a #1 Contender’s qualifying match to Andrade El Idolo, Omega seems content with moving away from the title picture.
When asked if he is still driven by championship glory, Omega was reflective. “I’m in a position where a lot of my own personal goals are out of the way. I’ve checked all those boxes. The one personal goal I have left is to be the best utility tool for what the situation calls for,” Omega stated.
He emphasized the importance of building the next generation rather than relying on established stars. “Maybe I could main event until I’m dead. But what follows after… if I haven’t had a hand in helping the next generation rise up?” Omega asked. “We can’t keep relying on the same small-knit group of people that have a track record of success. We need to be cognizant of what we’re doing moving forward.”
