Mercedes Mone Defends $99.99 Text Service On “We Playin’ Spades”

Mercedes Mone is facing significant backlash regarding the pricing of her new private texting service, but the “CEO” is refusing to apologize. During an appearance on the February 16, 2026, episode of We Playin’ Spades with Nick Cannon, Moné addressed the controversy surrounding the $99.99-per-month subscription fee. Rather than walking back the concept, she offered a robust defense of the platform, arguing that it serves a vital purpose for her safety and the security of her fanbase.

Moné explained that the service was designed primarily to combat the rampant issue of online impersonation and scams. “I’m a CEO because there are so many people who say, ‘Oh, I’m talking to you, I’m messaging you,’ and they’re getting scammed,” she told Cannon. By creating a paid barrier, she argues she is providing a verified channel for legitimate interaction. “So I’m like, how about you really do talk to me? You talk to the person you love, but you’ve got to pay me a month. I’ll text you whenever I’m free.”

She also clarified the nature of the communication, emphasizing that the high price tag does not imply inappropriate content. “People are paying me a month to text me. No sexy stuff. These are just my legit fans,” Moné stated. She described the subscribers as the “Moné crew”—supporters who are interested in the personal and professional details of her life. “The people that love me, respect me, and want to know about the ins and outs of my day, how I’m feeling, what it’s like being a CEO. And I teach them. I’m a CEO for a reason.”

Despite the criticism that the cost is prohibitive for many, Moné stood firm on the valuation of her time and access. She dismissed the notion that it was too expensive, instead framing it as a bargain for the level of personal engagement provided. “Isn’t that great? A low price. Brilliant idea. It’s very low,” she insisted. Her comments on the show suggest she has no intention of lowering the fee or altering the model, viewing the service as a premium product for her most dedicated followers.

Outside of her business ventures, Moné remains extremely active in the ring as a global champion. She is currently the reigning CMLL World Women’s Champion, a title she has held since June 2025. Her next major defense is scheduled for CMLL’s special all-women’s show on March 6, though her opponent has yet to be announced. Additionally, her “World Tour” continues in March with scheduled title defenses in Italy for the BestYa promotion, ensuring her schedule remains as packed as her inbox.
