Shane Helms Denies Being Anti-AEW After Twitter Exchange

Shane “Hurricane” Helms, currently working as a producer for WWE, found himself clearing the air regarding his stance on AEW this week. The situation began when Helms retweeted a clip from the now-defunct 205 Live brand, commenting on a specific wrestling spot by stating he “wouldn’t dare” do it himself. This innocuous comment on wrestling psychology sparked a response from a fan who tried to turn it into a tribalistic debate.

The fan suggested that in AEW, such a spot would be “no-sold” and then repeated in an even more dangerous fashion. Feeling compelled to address the narrative, Helms shut down the idea that he was taking shots at the rival promotion. He clarified his position, refusing to let his critique of a specific move be twisted into an attack on another company. Helms has a history of bridging the gap between promotions; notably, he made a surprise appearance on AEW Dynamite in November 2020 to support Matt Hardy during the “Elite Deletion” match against Sammy Guevara.

Helms joined WWE as a producer following a legendary in-ring career that began with WCW and flourished in WWE as “The Hurricane.” His insight is highly valued backstage, and he has been instrumental in putting together some of the company’s biggest matches in recent years, including the Logan Paul vs. Roman Reigns match at Crown Jewel. His willingness to engage with fans while maintaining professionalism highlights the often blurred lines in modern wrestling discourse.

As a producer, Helms is currently focused on the road to WrestleMania 42, helping talent construct their matches for the biggest stage of the year. His social media activity serves as a reminder that while fans may be divided, many within the industry maintain respect for their peers regardless of which logo is on the turnbuckle.
