Xavier Woods Out Of Action With Shoulder Injury; Time Off Required

The New Day has suffered a significant setback as Xavier Woods is set for an extended period on the sidelines. During the commercial break of the February 16 episode of Monday Night Raw on Netflix, the live crowd in Memphis, Tennessee, received an unfortunate update regarding the status of the former King of the Ring. Kofi Kingston, accompanied by Grayson Waller, addressed the audience to explain his partner’s recent absence from in-ring competition.

Kingston revealed that Woods has been working through a shoulder issue for quite some time, but the situation has reached a point where medical intervention is necessary. “We have some devastating news to report here tonight to you idiots,” Kingston announced to the Memphis crowd, maintaining his character’s edge. “Xavier Woods has been injured. He’s been battling a shoulder injury quietly and bravely for the better part of three months now and the medical team and the doctors are now forcing him to take time off in order for the shoulder to recover.”

The timeline provided by Kingston suggests that Woods has been managing the pain since late 2025, continuing to perform despite the physical limitations. This type of grit is characteristic of The New Day, a faction that has anchored the tag team division for over a decade. However, shoulder injuries can be notoriously tricky for professional wrestlers, often requiring significant rehabilitation or surgery depending on the severity of the tear or separation. While Kingston did not specify if surgery was on the table, the phrase “forcing him to take time off” indicates that conservative management of the injury was no longer a viable option.

This injury leaves Kingston in a precarious position on the red brand. Without his long-time partner, creative plans for The New Day will likely be put on hold or drastically altered. The involvement of Grayson Waller in the segment is also notable, suggesting a potential temporary alliance or simply Waller inserting himself into the situation to antagonize the veteran. The New Day has faced injury hurdles before, most notably with Big E’s long-term neck injury, and they have historically found ways to adapt and remain relevant on television.

With Woods out of the picture for the foreseeable future, the tag team landscape on Raw shifts once again. The show continues next week from Atlanta, Georgia, where fans will be looking to see if Kingston competes as a singles star or if the storyline with Waller develops further. As the road to WrestleMania 42 continues, the roster’s health remains a top priority for company officials.
