The Mysterio family dynasty looks set to expand. During an appearance on Cody Rhodes’ What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio revealed that his daughter, Aalyah, has begun training to become a professional wrestler. Following her graduation last June, Rey took Aalyah to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando and later to the Hart family’s famous “Dungeon” to test the waters.
Rey admitted he was shocked by her immediate aptitude for the business. “I was thinking, there’s no way this is her first time stepping in the ring. She had a natural connection with positioning and hitting the ropes. I was like, that is scary crazy,” Rey said. After their initial sessions, Aalyah expressed a genuine love for the physicality, prompting Rey to encourage her to pursue full-time training. “I’m actually trying to get her out there pretty soon so she knows what it’s like to train every day,” he added.
Aalyah previously appeared on WWE television during a storyline involving the Mysterio family, Seth Rollins, and Buddy Matthews, but she never competed in a match. If she follows through with her training, she would join her brother Dominik Mysterio, who has become one of the industry’s top heels. Dominik is currently a double champion, holding the WWE Intercontinental and AAA Mega Championships, setting a high bar for his sister to reach.
