The road to WrestleMania 42 took a definitive turn during the latest episode of Monday Night Raw. Liv Morgan officially made her championship decision following weeks of endless speculation.
The 2026 Women’s Royal Rumble winner earned a guaranteed title shot by outlasting twenty-nine other competitors. Morgan evaluated her options carefully before arriving at the February 23 edition of the flagship broadcast.
She stood in the ring alongside the two top champions in the women’s division. Morgan had to choose between Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer and WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill.
The tension in the arena was palpable as the WWE fans waited for her final declaration. Morgan ultimately struck Vaquer with the microphone, leaving her grounded on the mat.
This physical action confirmed her intention to challenge for the Women’s World Title. The official match is now set for the two-night stadium event taking place on April 18 and 19.
Cargill watched the attack unfold from just a few feet away inside the squared circle. The SmackDown titleholder has since taken to social media to comment on Morgan choosing to challenge for the other championship brand.
The reigning WWE Women’s Champion wrote, “She made a smart choice tonight.”

The brief statement implied that Morgan actively avoided a physical confrontation with the powerhouse. Morgan quickly saw the comment online and decided to issue a response of her own to defend her honor.
She reminded Cargill that she has already beaten her in the past. Morgan specifically referenced their one-on-one encounter on the March 21, 2025, episode of SmackDown television.
That specific match ended with Morgan getting her hand raised in victory over the dominant athlete. However, Cargill quickly fired back to clarify the exact circumstances surrounding that specific loss on her record.
Cargill responded, “Girl, with MUCH assisted help kid. Beat me clean.”

The champion noted that outside interference played a major role in the outcome of their previous bout. While Morgan focuses her attention on Vaquer, Cargill still needs a definitive opponent for the grandest stage of them all.
Her challenger will be officially determined inside a punishing steel structure very soon. The women’s Elimination Chamber match takes place at the premium live event on February 28.
The contest will feature six of the top women on the active roster fighting for supremacy. Tiffany Stratton, Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss, Kiana James, Asuka, and Raquel Rodriguez will battle for the opportunity.
The winner will punch their ticket to Las Vegas to face Cargill for the gold. The Elimination Chamber event will broadcast live from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
The Chicago card is filled with other major championship defenses that will shape the spring season. CM Punk will step into the ring to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Finn Balor in front of his hometown crowd.
Furthermore, AJ Lee will challenge Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship to finalize the title picture for WrestleMania 42. In the men’s division, Jey Uso joins Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, LA Knight, Je’Von Evans, and Trick Williams in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match to determine the number one contender for Drew McIntyre’s WWE Championship.
