WWE has paid The Rock tens of millions of dollars since he made his high-profile return to the company. The financial details surrounding his current arrangement highlight his massive value to the organization. It was announced in January 2024 that Dwayne Johnson had officially joined the TKO Board of Directors and entered into a formal services agreement with WWE.
Johnson was also awarded ‘The Rock’ trademark and other intellectual property trademarks related to his iconic WWE persona. He then immediately licensed those trademarks back to WWE in a lucrative 10-year deal. As part of The Rock’s return agreement, he was promised TKO shares with an aggregate value of $30 million in an RSU award.
Within TKO’s annual report filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, the specifics of his compensation were revealed. The document showed that The Rock had received exactly $21.7 million in TKO shares thus far. This substantial figure included $4 million distributed in 2025 and an additional $17.7 million in 2024.
Dwayne Johnson also received guaranteed royalties of $900,000 per year in both 2024 and 2025. Furthermore, WWE completely covered The Rock’s extensive travel expenses whenever he worked for the company. In 2024, this travel coverage totaled $2.6 million, and it amounted to $600,000 in 2025.
The Rock was heavily involved with the creative direction of WrestleMania 41 in 2024. He ultimately main evented night one of the spectacle when he teamed with Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. The Rock then interfered in the chaotic main event of WrestleMania 41 night two, famously receiving a chokeslam from The Undertaker.
The Rock’s most recent WWE appearance occurred at the Elimination Chamber 2025 event when he brought about John Cena’s shocking heel turn. His failure to appear at WrestleMania 41 later that year received criticism from some fans. Dwayne Johnson has instead been focusing primarily on his demanding Hollywood acting career.
The current WWE roster is moving forward without him as they prepare for the upcoming Elimination Chamber premium live event. The broadcast takes place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, streaming live from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. CM Punk will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Finn Balor, and the steel structure matches will determine the top challengers for WrestleMania 42.
