Finn Balor will challenge CM Punk for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the upcoming Elimination Chamber event, marking his first premium live event singles match since facing Damian Priest in October 2024. While fans always speculate about the return of his dark alter ego, Balor has no plans to bring back “The Demon” for this specific title clash.
Speaking with Radio Times, Balor explained that his match against Punk feels like a battle he must fight on his own merits. “I think it can be used effectively, but only occasionally, and it’s something that requires a lot more from me than just showing up for a match, being prepared,” Balor said. “It’s really more than just paint, it’s a mental state.
It really is an alter ego for me, and it’s something that I need to tap into. It’s something that I like to do, something that I certainly want to do again. But like with the music, timing is everything, and the timing has to be right.” Balor emphasized that his current focus is strictly on the World Heavyweight Championship and CM Punk, adding that “this is something Finn has to do.”
