While Cody Rhodes is considered a “virtual lock” to challenge Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42, the exact structure of that highly anticipated match remains up in the air.
According to Dave Meltzer in the February 27, 2026, Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is still debating whether the bout will remain a traditional singles match or be expanded to a Triple Threat. “What we have been told is that a match involving more than three people is not being talked about right now,” Meltzer reported. “So it is still Rhodes and if someone is added, at this point, it would only be [Jacob] Fatu.” This update shuts down earlier rumors of a potential five- or six-man scramble for the title in Las Vegas. While WWE could easily run a straight rematch of McIntyre’s victory over Rhodes in Berlin, Fatu’s strong internal support leaves the door open for him to shake up the dynamic at Allegiant Stadium.
