The road to the biggest stadium show of the year has officially reached its most volatile stage yet. CM Punk is aggressively promising to bury Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42. The two legendary superstars finally confronted each other face-to-face during the latest television broadcast.
This week’s episode of WWE Raw was capped off with a highly expected appearance from the 2026 Royal Rumble winner. After greeting the local crowd with his signature “Acknowledge Me” catchphrase, Reigns was almost immediately interrupted by the reigning World Heavyweight Champion. Punk wasted no time making his way down to the ring.
The champion started off the verbal confrontation with some light-hearted, sarcastic banter. He specifically asked the ‘Original Tribal Chief’ about his noticeably angry demeanor. Reigns quickly joked about a recent tweet that seemingly upset Punk online.
However, the ‘Best In The World’ quickly fired back at the accusation. He stated that he absolutely does not get mad about random tweets or what people say about him on various podcasts. He wanted to keep the focus entirely on their impending physical confrontation.
Punk continued on and openly complained about having to carry Reigns and his associated baggage for seven more weeks. The champion then confidently talked about their shared history in Indianapolis. He boldly claimed that he was the one who originally brought Reigns to “the dance” many years ago.
Reigns immediately responded to the claim by attempting to rewrite history. He stated that Punk actually brought Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose to “the dance”, not him. The tense exchange highlighted the deep history between the two former stablemates.
Then, Punk specifically recalled his last major encounter with Reigns. He bragged about currently being in his opponent’s head and making him unnecessarily emotional. This psychological warfare really fired the challenger up.
Reigns responded by telling Punk that he wouldn’t even exist on his radar if he wasn’t currently holding the World Heavyweight Championship. The challenger continued to dig deep into his opponent’s motivations. He claimed that WWE only brought back Punk to entertain 30 to 40 year old virgins.
He added that Punk was simply there to sell some t-shirts and draw ticket sales in his hometown of Chicago. Reigns also called the champion’s bluff on his overly positive public demeanor. He stated that everyone backstage knows he’s not actually having fun or being a true locker room leader.
Reigns finished off his tirade by saying that he’s going to send Punk on a permanent retirement tour. He suggested that Punk should go down to the NXT brand and teach the next generation before they inevitably get stacked and smashed as well. However, the champion managed to get the last word in before the broadcast ended.
He specifically targeted Reigns for being completely alone with no wiseman or Bloodline family members to help him out anymore. After scoffing at the ridiculous notion of Reigns retiring him, Punk finally put the dagger in. He looked directly at his challenger and said that he’s going to bury Reigns right next to his father.
The shocking personal insult left the live audience completely stunned as the program went off the air. The two massive stars will officially collide in the main event of WrestleMania 42. The two-night event is scheduled for April 18 and April 19, 2026, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
