The blue brand is experiencing a massive wave of momentum following its recent move back to cable television. Friday night’s episode of WWE SmackDown averaged 1.379 million viewers on the USA Network. This represents a significant increase of 23.9% from the previous week’s airing on SyFy.
This impressive performance marks the second-highest audience for the show since September 5 of last year. The consistent growth in viewership indicates that the WWE fans are following the product closely regardless of the platform. The move to the USA Network has clearly provided a much more stable environment for the weekly broadcast.
SmackDown also performed exceptionally well in the highly coveted 18-49 demographic, averaging a 0.34 rating. That number is up 17.2% from the prior week. It officially ties the second-highest rating the show has achieved in that specific category since September 19.
Despite airing head-to-head with a high-profile NBA game on ESPN that topped the cable charts, the wrestling program held its own. The show finished second on the overall cable charts in the key demographic. It also ranked fifth overall on all of television for the entire night, proving the enduring power of the brand.
However, when looking at the long-term historical data, there is a notable decline from the previous year. As compared to the same week in 2025, the overall viewership was down 20.3%. The 18-49 rating also saw a decrease of 36.4% compared to the 2025 figures.
The recent short-term averages tell a much more positive story for the current creative direction. This week’s show was up 24.4% in overall viewers as compared to the recent ten-week average. The 18-49 demo also saw a 30.8% jump compared to those same recent averages.
The creative team has heavily relied on the star power of the Undisputed WWE Champion to drive these numbers. Drew McIntyre is currently scheduled to defend his title against Cody Rhodes on the upcoming episode of SmackDown. This high-stakes main event is expected to draw another massive audience as the road to WrestleMania 42 continues.
The ultimate winner of that title match will move on to face Randy Orton at the stadium show in Las Vegas. Orton earned his spot by winning the Men’s Elimination Chamber match in Chicago. The two-night event takes place on April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium, and the television ratings suggest that interest in the main event scene is at an all-time high.
