The “Grandest Stage of Them All” is officially undergoing a series of strategic adjustments as management looks to maximize viewership for the spring’s biggest event. WrestleMania 42 is now just weeks away, and new reports suggest that WWE officials are exploring “natural adjustments” to the card to draw in more casual viewers and convert them into full paying subscribers.
According to WrestleVotes, the goal is not to overhaul the entire two-night event but rather to add specific stipulations to a few marquee matches. These changes are being designed to make certain bouts stand out for those watching the regular television broadcasts. This strategy is closely tied to the company’s historic partnership with ESPN, which will feature a preview portion of the show on their linear channels.
The primary plan involves placing a high-stakes stipulation match early on the card. By showcasing a flashy or dangerous match type during the portion that airs on ESPN, the company hopes to “hook” casual viewers and prevent them from changing the channel. This strategy aims to drive immediate subscriptions to the full WrestleMania 42 broadcast on Peacock and international streaming services like MyAEW.
“Officials are exploring ‘natural adjustments’… mainly by adding stipulations to a few big matches. The goal is to make certain matches stand out more for casual fans,” the report detailed. This could mean matches like Rhea Ripley versus Jade Cargill or Sami Zayn’s rumored encounter could see the addition of “No Disqualification” or “Ladder Match” elements to increase the visual spectacle of the opening hour.
WrestleMania 42 will take place on Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. With Cody Rhodes defending his gold against Randy Orton and the personal feud between CM Punk and Roman Reigns heating up, the addition of unique stipulations could provide the final boost needed for a record-breaking weekend. Management still has time to finalize these plans before the final go-home episodes of Raw and SmackDown in mid-April.
