The WWE Hall of Famer is officially setting the record straight regarding her much-discussed connection to the NFL world. For months, speculation has linked Nikki Bella to Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean. During a candid conversation with Lala Kent, Bella finally opened up about the relationship, admitting that the nearly 20-year age gap was the primary reason things never evolved into a serious romance.
The rumors first ignited in late 2025 when Bella was spotted at an Eagles game and shared social media posts that appeared to show her inside DeJean’s private locker room area. While the two shared several public interactions, Bella quickly realized that their different stages in life made a long-term partnership unrealistic. She admitted that while younger men can be fun, she ultimately needs a partner with more life experience.
“20 years younger is super young. I did have different conversations with that one. But I realized that young 20s are young, but late 20s are great,” Bella shared. “I’m someone who’s obsessed with conversation and sharing experiences. I already know that I need to have someone who’s lived a journey; that’s how I connect.”
The “Total Bellas” star also revealed that the intense media scrutiny and online backlash played a major role in ruining the dynamic. She was shocked to find herself labeled with offensive terms like “groomer” and “grandma” by critics online. This level of negative attention made the situation feel “weird” and uncomfortable for both parties involved.
“It was the media, because they made a big deal about this age gap. It ruined things for sure. Even something fun, because it made me feel really weird,” she explained. Despite the rumors fading out, she still holds DeJean in high regard. “So Cooper… an incredible guy, but we just have a big age gap. He’s amazing, but it’s just the age gap.”
Nikki is currently preparing for her return to the spotlight as the road to WrestleMania 42 continues. She and her sister Brie are expected to return to WWE television “very soon” to finalize their plans for the Las Vegas stadium show on April 18 and 19. While her personal life remains a topic of interest for the WWE fans, the Hall of Famer appears focused on her “full-time” return to the ring and the upcoming festivities in the “Silver State.”
