Kenny Omega will not be wrestling at tonight’s AEW Revolution — but his return to AEW television may be right around the corner.
According to Fightful Select, Omega informed AEW months ago that he would be unavailable for tonight’s pay-per-view due to prior commitments in Japan. While a surprise appearance hasn’t been ruled out entirely, he is not expected to compete. The report also reveals that a match between Omega and Swerve Strickland was at one point considered for Revolution, before it became clear Omega wouldn’t be wrestling on the show. AEW pivoted, booking Swerve against Brody King instead.
Omega Expected Back on Dynamite Within the Next Couple of Weeks
The more significant news is what comes next. Fightful reports that Omega is “immediately” back in the fold with AEW and could return to the ring on Dynamite within the next couple of weeks. His last appearance came on the February 18 edition of Dynamite, where he lost to Swerve Strickland and was subsequently attacked with a chain — a device used to write him off programming temporarily.
With Omega’s return imminent and his loss to Swerve still unaddressed, his comeback could quickly re-ignite one of AEW’s most compelling rivalries heading into the spring schedule.
