Bayley has had some of the most recognizable entrance themes in WWE over the past decade — but she hasn’t always been a fan of them at first listen. In a interview with IGN, the Role Model pulled back the curtain on how WWE theme songs are chosen and shared the stories behind several of her own.
When she became The Hugger in NXT, Bayley was sent a track for consideration and didn’t like it. What changed her mind had nothing to do with the music itself. “They sent me, ‘Hey, this is what we’re thinking for music.’ I hated it. Then the next text was, ‘Hunter loves it.’ I said, ‘Alright, sounds good! Like that’s my song,'” she recalled. She added that she ultimately grew to love it as fans responded to it over time.
The pattern of themes landing differently than expected continued throughout her career. Her current entrance music — Role Model by Def Rebel — was never intended to stick around. “That was also one of those things where it was like, ‘Hey, this is just for ‘Mania, when I wrestled IYO, but we can get back to it.’ We just never got back to it. It’s not my favorite but that’s also my fault too. I need to be more on it, I guess,” she admitted.
Bayley also revealed that her heel turn theme Deliverance was similarly pitched as temporary. “They were like, ‘Hey, this is just for tonight. We don’t have to keep it.’ But then I really liked it. I like the little guitar solo in it. So we kept that.” She also noted that she actually misses We Got the Rage, the rap-influenced track used during the Damage CTRL era, which she said came together through a collaboration between herself, the music team, and Triple H.
