Steve Austin Rules Out WWE Raw Appearance on 3:16 Day And Here’s Why

If you were hoping to see Steve Austin walk through the curtain on 3:16 Day with Monday Night Raw taking place in his home state of Texas, don’t hold your breath. Austin has officially shut down the speculation himself.

Speaking with The Takedown on Sports Illustrated on March 16, Austin was asked directly whether fans should expect to see him at Raw in San Antonio. He encouraged wrestling fans to tune in — but made clear he wouldn’t be part of the show. “Man, they should tune in because they love WWE and Monday Night Raw. But I’m out,” Austin said. “I’ll be a few days out from that race — the race I’m talking about with my racing career — and we’re working our asses off. So yeah, I’ll be hunkered down in a garage out here in BFE Nevada, trying to get this buggy ready — a side-by-side utility vehicle — to race this grueling 250-mile race. I want to get out there and put my own show on out there in the desert.”

WWE Had Reportedly Been Hopeful Austin Would Appear for the Symbolic Occasion

The timing had seemed almost too perfect — Raw in San Antonio, Texas on 3:16 Day, with people inside WWE reportedly hopeful the Hall of Famer might make what would have been his first Monday Night Raw appearance in years. Austin’s comments extinguish that possibility entirely.

Austin has remained highly selective about his WWE appearances in recent years. His last major in-ring moment came at WrestleMania 38 in 2022 when he defeated Kevin Owens, and he made only occasional appearances after that, most recently announcing the attendance at WrestleMania 41. For now, the Texas Rattlesnake’s focus is firmly on the desert — not the squared circle.
