Jacob Fatu has heard the concern fans often voice when a standout independent talent signs with WWE — that the company will sand down the edges and reshape them into something more corporate. He wants everyone to know that isn’t happening with him.
Speaking with TV Insider, Fatu made it clear that WWE has been hands-off when it comes to altering who he is. “They are letting me be who I am. They ain’t here to change me. I’m going to say it again — they ain’t here to change me. They ain’t doing none of that. They are letting me be me and tapping into what people like me. Just to let them know anything is possible. It has been going good.”
Fatu Faces Drew McIntyre on This Week’s SmackDown
The comments come ahead of Fatu’s match against Drew McIntyre on this week’s episode of SmackDown, a bout that has been building since McIntyre’s attacks on Fatu in recent weeks. Fatu also recently revealed that Caesar Sikoa was originally the name WWE had planned for him before he was introduced under his real name — a further sign that the company has been willing to adapt its approach to best showcase who he is.
