WWE
Gunther has been one of WWE’s most prominent figures over the past year, earning the “Career Killer” moniker after being the one to retire Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles in succession. But despite that high-profile run, his WrestleMania 42 status is now uncertain.
According to sources who spoke with Bodyslam, Gunther’s feud with Dragon Lee — which included his most recent appearance on the March 2 episode of Raw where he defeated Lee — was designed to set up a program with Rey Mysterio that would culminate in a match at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. However, Mysterio suffered a rib injury before the Royal Rumble, throwing the entire plan into question. Mysterio has since confirmed he fractured ribs on both sides and has not competed since the Rumble itself.
Gunther’s WrestleMania Direction Currently Unknown Without Mysterio
With Mysterio’s return timeline unclear, Gunther’s plans for WrestleMania have shifted along with them. It is currently unknown whether Gunther will have a match in Las Vegas unless Mysterio is medically cleared in time. The situation leaves one of WWE’s most dominant performers without a confirmed WrestleMania direction less than five weeks out from the event.
