Ricky Saints grew up idolizing The Undertaker. Now they greet each other at WWE shows and trade advice — and Saints still hasn’t fully wrapped his head around it.
Speaking with KRON 4 News, Saints named The Undertaker, The Rock, and Mankind as his three favorite wrestlers growing up, with Undertaker at the top of the list. Being in the same company and receiving mentorship from him has been something Saints can barely put into words. “I met The Undertaker several times. He’s awesome, given me so many gems of advice and knowledge that he’s dropped on me,” Saints said. “It’s wild to see every time I see him at the Performance Center or at some of these shows — we go up and greet each other and catch up a little bit. But yeah, it’s insane. Watching as a kid and now being on the same show, being a part of the same company with him, is wild.”
The relationship between the two actually predates Saints’ WWE career. The two first met in a gym while Undertaker was training for his WrestleMania 32 match against Shane McMahon. Saints later played a role in helping Undertaker’s wife Michelle McCool prepare for a Royal Rumble appearance, deepening the connection. Undertaker’s behind-the-scenes influence has continued to grow, with him becoming an important creative voice in Lucha Libre AAA following its acquisition by WWE.
As for Saints’ in-ring career, he came up short in his NXT Championship challenge against Joe Hendry at NXT Vengeance Day earlier this month. A match against Tony D’Angelo is set for next week’s NXT.
