The friend who stepped in to advise Ricochet during his MS tweet controversy has been confirmed — and it’s a name with significant credibility in the wrestling world. Fightful Select reports that sources within AEW identified Chris Hero as the person who contacted Ricochet and advised him to delete the offensive post and issue a public apology.
Hero has been a producer in AEW since the summer of 2023 and has been friends with Ricochet for decades, dating back to their time together on the independent wrestling circuit. His relationship with Ricochet made him the natural person to have that conversation — and it worked.
Neither AEW Nor WBD Forced the Apology, But Officials Said It Was the Right Call
AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery did not compel Ricochet to apologize, though AEW officials did tell him afterward that issuing the statement was the right thing to do. The incident began when Ricochet told a fan critical of his acting abilities that he was glad they had multiple sclerosis — a comment that drew widespread backlash. Ricochet initially appeared to defend his actions before eventually writing in his apology: “I took out my hatred for the IWC on Sandi, and inadvertently others who are affected by MS. She didn’t deserve it and for that, I sincerely apologize. Moving forward I’ll do better.”
