Chelsea Green Pushed to Stay on WWE TV While Injured

Chelsea Green didn’t disappear when she got hurt — and according to Fightful Select, that was entirely her own call. While WWE typically keeps injured talent off television until they’re healed, Green pushed back against that norm and insisted on remaining a visible presence on programming, leading to one of the more unusual arrangements the company has made for an injured performer.

“WWE tends to keep injured talent off TV until they heal. Why did they change that with Chelsea Green? Because she pushed to stay on TV. She wanted to be there. She didn’t want to have that downtime,” Fightful Select reported. “She didn’t need to be in the ring in order to be a beneficial talent. And WWE agreed. It was one of those situations where it was mutually beneficial for both sides.”

Chelsea Green’s “Yes” Mentality Has Made Her One of WWE’s Most Valuable Performers

Green’s willingness to stay present while walking in a boot and appearing in a wheelchair is entirely consistent with the mentality she described in a recent interview with 93.7 The Fan. “If the check clears, I’m doing it. You’re going to put me in a dumpster? Say less. Pour salsa on my head? Say less.” She also pointed to her habit of saying yes when others say no as the reason she led the company in appearances last year. “The people who say no — I get those opportunities. That’s why last year I did more appearances than anyone else in the company.” Green has been out for nearly two months and is expected to continue appearing on SmackDown and AAA programming during her recovery, with internal optimism building that her return to in-ring action could come sooner than initially expected.
