Maxxine Dupri Opens Up About Shocking Herself With Her WWE Title Win

Maxxine Dupri’s path to winning the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship was unlike any other in recent memory — and she’s the first to admit that her historic victory over Becky Lynch at Madison Square Garden shocked her just as much as it shocked the wrestling world. Speaking on The Collection with Brad Gilmore, Dupri reflected on a journey that began with zero professional wrestling experience and ended with championship gold.

“I had a really interesting start. I got called up very early. I was injured at the time. I wasn’t trained. I had never had a match. So truthfully, I was just treading water and I was like, ‘Let me just do my best to stay employed. I just need to survive and then I’ll see what happens next,'” she said.

Maxxine Dupri Describes the Moment She Pinned Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Title

Even as she developed as an in-ring performer, Dupri admitted that a championship win felt beyond her reach for a long time. That changed at MSG in November 2025. “I always say — I know the world was shocked, but I’m like, guys, I was shocked with you. When I hit that crossbody and I beat Becky Lynch — the first woman to ever main event WrestleMania — I was equally shocked.” The win came with assistance from an AJ Lee distraction, but the pinfall was real, and the moment was one of the more surprising title changes in recent WWE history. Dupri would later lose the title back to Lynch, who subsequently lost it to Lee at Elimination Chamber 2026. Despite the reign’s end, the Madison Square Garden victory remains a genuine watershed moment in Dupri’s still-developing career.
