Trick Williams has offered a glimpse into the reaction among WWE talent to John Cena’s return as host of WrestleMania 42 — and the response in the locker room is overwhelmingly positive. Speaking on the Unsportsmanlike podcast, Williams described genuine excitement about having Cena back in the building for the biggest show of the year.
“I guess retirement is hard sometimes. We’re glad that he’s going to be back. We know that everybody loves John Cena. I’m glad he’s back. We’re going to have a good time. It means a lot to us,” Williams said.

Cena became a record 17-time World Champion at WrestleMania 41 by defeating Cody Rhodes before retiring after losing to GUNTHER in December 2025 and signing a five-year WWE Ambassador deal. His hosting role at WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on April 18 and 19 marks his first major return to WWE television since stepping away from in-ring competition.
