Drew McIntyre Says He Feels Better at Nearly 40 Than He Did at 30 After Fitness Overhaul

Drew McIntyre made a significant change to his fitness routine roughly nine months ago — and the results have been dramatic enough that the WWE star now says he feels better physically than he did at 30 years old. Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, McIntyre explained how a rare five-week break from wrestling prompted him to take an honest look at himself and make changes he should have made years earlier.

“I looked at myself in the mirror and said, what’s going on with you? Things are starting to catch up. Things are hurting. Is there anything you can do about that? I never really followed a diet. I was still eating burgers and pizza all the time. I decided to get a trainer who came to my garage and worked with me on training, diet, and the big thing — mobility, which I’ve never done properly,” McIntyre said.

Drew McIntyre Credits Controlled Articular Rotations and a New Diet for Transforming How His Body Feels

The mobility work proved to be the most transformative element. McIntyre described discovering Controlled Articular Rotations — CARs — and their impact on his hips, knees, and shoulders as a revelation. “I couldn’t throw a super kick because my hips were so tight — it just wasn’t physically possible. Going through all this mobility work and the new diet, which reduced inflammation dramatically — I not only saw a difference in how I looked on screen, but how I felt overall. I was throwing head kicks, I feel better now than I did at legitimately 30 years old.” McIntyre faces Jacob Fatu in an Unsanctioned Match at WrestleMania 42 on April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
