Shinsuke Nakamura and Talla Tonga will face off on the May 22 episode of WWE SmackDown from Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, following a backstage attack on this week’s show.
The match was set up on the May 15 episode when Nakamura tried to approach Tama Tonga backstage. Talla Tonga interjected and chokeslammed Nakamura onto a cargo crate. The match was announced afterward.
The broader story has seen Nakamura repeatedly try to convince Tama Tonga that he doesn’t need Solo Sikoa and the MFTs, with Talla increasingly inserting himself to shut those conversations down. This week’s show also saw Tama lose to Damian Priest, with Talla and Sikoa attacking Priest after the bell. In the main event, Royce Keys defeated Tama Tonga after Sikoa’s interference backfired — Keys threw a chair directly at Sikoa’s face after he tried to interfere.
May 22 is the go-home episode before WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23.
