Sol Ruca Thought The WWE Message In Her DMs Was A UFC Tryout Request: ‘I Don’t Know How To Fight’

Sol Ruca has revealed she initially thought the WWE recruitment DM that launched her career was an invitation to try out for the UFC, saying she had to do her research before agreeing to attend.

Speaking on the Jim Kerr Rock and Roll Morning Show on Q104.3 New York, Ruca described the moment she was contacted by the WWE Recruit page.

“So I didn’t really know much about wrestling when I got here. I was doing social media full-time, and I was an online personal trainer living in Hawaii when I got a DM from the WWE Recruit page, and they asked if I wanted to do a tryout. Honestly, at first I thought it was the UFC and was like, ‘I don’t know how to fight, I’m not gonna do that.’ Did my research and was like, ‘Okay, this is sick, I think I could do this.’ Might as well go on a tryout — if I don’t make it, it’s a cool story to tell people, and if I do, hell yeah, let’s do it.”

Ruca defeated Becky Lynch by disqualification at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23 and will challenge Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at Clash in Italy on May 31.
