AJ Lee is not expected to return to WWE imminently following her loss to Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 42, per WrestleVotes, with plans for her effectively concluded after WWE’s biggest weekend of the year.
There is hope within the organisation that Lee will return for more matches in the future, potentially around major events like SummerSlam, but no timeline has been set. Lee said on the WrestleMania 42 post-show: “This is not goodbye, but I’ll see you soon, I hope.”
Lee came out of a ten-year retirement in September 2025. Her return was dominated by a programme with Becky Lynch that included teaming with CM Punk to defeat Lynch and Seth Rollins at Wrestlepalooza, making Lynch submit at Survivor Series: WarGames, costing Lynch the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, and winning the belt from Lynch at Elimination Chamber 2026. Her 49-day reign ended when Lynch regained the title at WrestleMania 42.
