A match between Jade Cargill and Charlotte Flair has been internally pitched for SummerSlam and was at one point penciled in for the two-night event on August 1-2 in Minneapolis, per WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select.
Sources indicate WWE creative has been waiting for the right time and stage to present the first-time singles matchup, with those involved believing SummerSlam is the ideal setting. There is a feeling internally that the time is now for the match to happen, though plans remain fluid.
The two have been building toward a collision on SmackDown, with their rivalry including backstage brawls and physical altercations. Cargill, alongside Michin and B-Fab, launched a backstage attack on Flair at Clash in Italy. Most recently Cargill and Michin defeated Flair and Tiffany Stratton in tag action after Cargill hit the Jaded finisher.
Cargill lost her Women’s Championship rematch against Rhea Ripley at Clash in Italy. WWE must first get through Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia on June 27 before reaching SummerSlam.
