WWE NXT has added two championship matches to its May 19 lineup, with the brand setting up a busy night of in-ring action. WWE confirmed that Tatum Paxley will defend the NXT Women’s North American Championship against Lizzie Rain, while Vanity Project will defend the NXT Tag Team Championships against DarkState. The card also includes the in-ring debut of Mason Rook teaming with Kam Hendrix against Tony D’Angelo and Myles Borne, plus Keanu Carver vs. Tate Wilder.
WWE NXT Title Matches Set For May 19 Broadcast
The Paxley vs. Rain bout was set up after the two teamed together on this past Tuesday’s NXT, defeating Nikkita Lyons and Zaria. After the win, Paxley turned to Rain backstage and offered her the title shot, framing the match as a respectful but competitive showdown between the two. On the tag side, the entire DarkState faction interrupted Vanity Project on Tuesday, with the segment turning into another tease of dissension when it was announced that Dion Lennox and Shaquon Shugars — who haven’t been on the same page recently — would be the team challenging for the titles.
WWE NXT Lineup Adds Mason Rook Debut And More
Mason Rook officially signed his NXT contract on Tuesday, and his arrival was immediately felt. Tony D’Angelo was cutting a promo when Kam Hendrix jumped him from behind, and Rook capitalized by going to the top rope and unleashing a massive moonsault that wiped out everyone involved. The tag match against D’Angelo and Borne will serve as his official in-ring debut. Tate Wilder, who lost earlier in the night, walked into NXT General Manager Robert Stone’s office asking for another opportunity, just as Keanu Carver walked in himself, setting up their match next week. The full WWE NXT May 19 card now features four matches and the in-ring debut.
