Braun Strowman has revealed his ring name was created by combining the names of two baseball players — Ryan Braun and Marcus Stroman — while watching a sports broadcast during his early WWE days.
Speaking on 10,000 Nos, Strowman described the accidental naming process.
“They’re talking about Ryan Braun, and I’m like, ‘Braun, Braun, I’m kind of brawny,’ and then literally they transition right after that and they start talking about Marcus Stroman, the baseball player.”
Strowman, whose real name is Adam Scherr, debuted in WWE as a member of The Wyatt Family before breaking out as a singles star and becoming a multi-time champion. He left WWE in 2025 to focus on his reality television career.
