Jade Cargill is currently preparing for the biggest stage of the year. The WWE Women’s Champion will defend her title at WrestleMania 42. She recently shared her original thoughts regarding her potential opponent.
Cargill thought she would be stepping into the ring against a multi-time champion. She fully expected to take on Charlotte Flair at the stadium event. Flair was one of several women on the active roster who competed in qualifiers recently.
The women fought for a spot in the upcoming Elimination Chamber match. This bout takes place this coming weekend at the premium live event of the same name. Flair would ultimately come up short in her specific qualifier.
While speaking to the Chicago Sports Network in a new interview, Cargill shared her honest reaction. She explained how she originally thought she would be facing Flair at the event. The champion was genuinely surprised by the recent television results.
“To go off guard a little bit, I actually thought I was gonna take on Charlotte,” Cargill stated. She admitted that the outcome of the qualifying match caught her off guard. “So I’m really shocked to see that last Friday she didn’t qualify,” she added.
Despite the unexpected turn of events, Cargill remains completely confident in her abilities. She made it clear that the identity of her challenger does not matter. The champion believes she can defeat anyone the company puts in front of her.
“So it doesn’t matter, it can be Asuka, it can be Rhea, it can be Tiffany,” Cargill explained to the interviewer. She also brought up her past history with one of the competitors. “I already beat Tiffany,” she noted.
“It can be whomever, like I said, it doesn’t matter because I’m gonna come out on top as the WWE Women’s Champion at WrestleMania,” she ended. Elsewhere in the same interview, Jade spoke about who she could potentially face at WrestleMania.
She reiterated that it does not matter who steps up to challenge her. The champion is ready to cement her legacy on the grandest stage of them all. She has dominated the women’s division since capturing the gold.
The women’s division is filled with talented competitors who are hungry for an opportunity. The upcoming Elimination Chamber match will feature a mix of established veterans and rising stars. Cargill will be watching the brutal contest very closely to scout her future opponent.
The champion has utilized her impressive strength and athleticism to overcome every obstacle thus far. Her presence on the SmackDown brand has elevated the prestige of the championship. WWE fans are eager to see who will earn the right to challenge her. The road to Las Vegas continues to feature unexpected twists for the entire locker room.
The Women’s Elimination Chamber match takes place on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The premium live event will broadcast from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The winner of the grueling match featuring Tiffany Stratton, Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Kiana James, and Raquel Rodriguez will advance to challenge Jade Cargill for her WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
