Many observers believe that Roman Reigns will eventually unleash his full wrath on his opponent to get even. During the heated promo, the World Heavyweight Champion made a claim that shocked most people who watched it live. He said he would officially bury his challenger right beside his late father, Sika Anoa’i.
The champion has already been heavily called out for this specific comment by various wrestling experts. Critics noted that the line did not really match the rest of the promo and felt somewhat forced for shock value. This personal jab has set a very dangerous precedent for their future interactions.
On a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray revealed that Reigns can bring up an extremely painful memory to get even. He suggested that the challenger might target the memory of Larry, who was CM Punk and AJ Lee’s beloved pet dog. The couple famously loved the animal more than almost anything else in their lives.
The pet unfortunately passed away on December 2, 2025, leaving the family devastated by the loss. Bully Ray explained how the challenger could utilize this emotional wound to hurt the champion’s feelings in their next meeting.
“Punk went too far with Roman last night. ‘I’m going to bury you next to your dead father.’ You know what the consequences are going to be now?” Ray asked the audience.
He believes that the personal nature of the feud will only continue to escalate as the stadium event approaches. The writing team may lean into these real-life emotions to generate even more interest in the championship match.
“What do you think Roman is going to hit Punk with next time they talk? … Larry would be the obvious one to go after,” Ray ended.
The two massive stars are scheduled to clash in the main event of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. The event takes place on April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium. This rivalry will likely be the primary focus of the Raw brand for the next several weeks. Meanwhile, AJ Lee is also preparing for the two-night event as she looks to defend her Women’s Intercontinental Championship against the winner of the upcoming number one contender’s gauntlet match.
