A backstage AAA segment during Rey de Reyes has set up what could become one of the most exciting Intercontinental Championship matches on the WrestleMania 42 card. Following El Hijo del Vikingo’s frustration over losing the AAA Mega Championship to Dominik Mysterio — with Mini Vikingo playing a role in the loss — Dorian Roldan of the El Ojo faction stepped in to redirect his focus toward a bigger opportunity.
Roldan’s message to Vikingo was direct. “Imagine this… WrestleMania weekend. Intercontinental Champion,” he said, telling Vikingo to stop dwelling on the setback and start thinking about what’s in front of him. “You are El Hijo del Vikingo, understand that. You were born to do big things. You were born to be the greatest luchador in Mexico. We cannot be wasting time.”
Vikingo Set to Confront Penta at Upcoming AAA Event as First Step Toward WrestleMania Match
Roldan closed the segment by pushing Vikingo toward an immediate target. “Today, you have the biggest opportunity to go out there and challenge Penta.” A confrontation between the two has already been announced for the next AAA Rey de Reyes show, taped as part of the same three-week series. Penta has been on a strong run as WWE Intercontinental Champion, having defeated Dominik Mysterio to win the title and successfully defending it against El Grande Americano and Dragon Lee since. A match between two lucha libre stars of Vikingo and Penta’s caliber at WrestleMania would carry significant intrigue for fans of high-flying, fast-paced wrestling.
