AJ Lee has a clear wish list for WWE management — and it starts with bringing back two of the most important figures from her first run with the company. Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Lee made a direct appeal for both Paige and Kaitlyn to return, citing both personal affection and professional admiration for what their presence would add to the current women’s division.
“I love Paige. If I could bring somebody back — her and Kaitlyn. Let’s get them back,” Lee said. Her words about Paige carried particular warmth, touching on a mentorship dynamic that defined part of both their careers. “We’d always joke that I was her fairy godmother and I just took her under my wing and tried to protect her.”
AJ Lee Says Today’s WWE Women’s Division Would Be the Perfect Environment for Paige to Return To
Lee framed a potential Paige return as something that would be as meaningful for Paige personally as it would be for the division professionally. “It would be kind of heartwarming and healing, and she would be a great addition to this locker room. I think this place has really come a long way and the women work together so beautifully, and they’re so supportive. I would love for her to experience just how fun it is now.” Lee and Paige shared fourteen televised singles matches between 2012 and 2014, as did Lee and Kaitlyn, making both rivalries among the most significant of her first WWE run. Whether either return materializes remains to be seen, but Lee’s public advocacy gives the conversation renewed momentum heading into WrestleMania 42 season.
