Darby Allin has noticed a pattern surrounding The Don Callis Family — and he wants absolutely nothing to do with being the next name added to the injured list. Speaking with TMZ Sports ahead of his AEW Dynasty match against Andrade El Idolo, Allin described the faction in terms that were equal parts humorous and genuinely cautious.
“I feel that shit is cursed. Everybody that is in that family seems hurt in real life. It’s just like everybody’s getting hurt. I feel like, man, let’s just hope and pray that I can make it through The Don Callis Family without getting hurt,” Allin said. The observation is not without basis — the faction has seen Kyle Fletcher sidelined with a lower leg injury and Josh Alexander undergo knee surgery in recent weeks, adding to a running tally of physical setbacks for members of the group.
Darby Allin Wants to Win His Dynasty Match Against Andrade and Earn an AEW World Title Shot Against MJF
For Allin, the stakes of Sunday’s Dynasty match go far beyond the immediate result. A victory over Andrade would earn him a future shot at MJF’s AEW World Championship — his first championship opportunity since Double or Nothing 2023 — making it one of the most significant matches of his current run. The urgency in his tone was unmistakable. “I would love to fight for the championship. I’d love to do all this stuff. Right now, I can’t afford to get hurt. There’s a curse going on in The Don Callis Family, so I’m trying to get done with it as fast as possible.” AEW Dynasty takes place April 12 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, airing live on PPV.
