Jacob Fatu has revealed a fascinating behind-the-scenes detail about the weeks before his WWE debut — he was already signed to the company and secretly present at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, hidden in Gorilla Position while one of the biggest nights in recent WWE history unfolded around him. Speaking on the Raw Recap, Fatu reflected on the surreal nature of that experience and the journey that followed.
“WrestleMania 40. A lot of people don’t know — I was signed already. I just got signed but I didn’t know when I was coming. Day after WrestleMania 40, met everybody, said what’s up. We were at the Hall of Fame, I was sitting in Gorilla Position. Nobody could see me — I was hooded up. Everybody walking by and I was tripping out. I seen my brother Solo, I seen my brother Big Jim, I seen Mr. Yeet Man. I was in there with Roman Reigns and O.G. Paul Heyman. To be a part of that was off the rip,” Fatu said.
Jacob Fatu Jokingly Called WWE After Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa Debuted Before Him to Ask If He Still Had a Job
Fatu also revealed he had been told his debut would happen at Money in the Bank 2024 — one month before he actually debuted — before the call came that it would happen on SmackDown instead. The unexpected debut of Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa before him had him reaching for his phone in mock concern. “Seen Tama Tonga come over — Tama Tonga’s a beast, a workhorse, a dog. Didn’t know they was coming. Backlash, France, seen Tonga Loa pop up. I’m like, ‘Okay.’ I gotta call brother up and them, ‘Hey man, I still got a job over there?!’ I ain’t know what was going on.” Fatu competes in an Unsanctioned Match against Drew McIntyre on WrestleMania 42 Night One on April 18 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
