Cody Rhodes has revealed he visited WWE headquarters and spent time with multiple departments to explore what a behind-the-scenes role could look like — and the Undisputed WWE Champion says he now has the bug to work in wrestling management again after previously describing his time as AEW Executive Vice President as a failure. Rhodes shared the experience on his What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast.
“I wanted to go to the office to see what life would be like at the office, at WWE HQ. I had a career before as an executive vice president. I failed at it — had some success along the way but failed. Ultimately learned a great deal from said failure, as we do, that’s what we need. But I wanted to go. I said, ‘I’m going to treat it like I’m going there for a job.’ I’ll write a sample format. I’m going to write a full tech format, times and everything. I’m going to go and share that with Bruce Prichard and the creative team. And I’m going to sit with them. I’m going to meet with Lee Fitting and his team. I’m going to meet these departments. Not the ‘Hi, I’m such and such’ — I’m going to actually ask, ‘What can I really do for you?’ Do I fit in anywhere? Because I got the bug,” Rhodes said.
Cody Rhodes Was Stunned by Kit Wilson’s Nine PDFs of Creative Ideas During His WWE HQ Visit
To prepare for the visit, Rhodes reached out to members of the roster to hear their creative ideas. While responses varied, Kit Wilson — the guest on the same podcast episode — went above and beyond by sending nine full PDFs of character pitches. Rhodes was visibly stunned by the depth of thought Wilson had put into his own direction. Rhodes did not specify whether a management role would run concurrently with his in-ring career or represent a future post-retirement transition. He is the current three-time Undisputed WWE Champion following his WrestleMania 42 defense against Randy Orton.
