The Stadium Stampede is returning to AEW Double or Nothing for the first time since 2023 — and the match was set up on Wednesday’s Dynamite when Chris Jericho and Ricochet’s verbal confrontation escalated into the annual brawl being booked for the May 24 show in Queens, New York. Ricochet agreed to face Jericho but demanded it take place inside a Stadium Stampede, questioning whether Jericho could even assemble a team of partners. A brawl broke out between Jericho, Ricochet, and the Gates of Agony before the three Hurt Syndicate members — Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin — ran out, apparently indicating three of Jericho’s potential partners.
Jericho is one of the original architects of the Stadium Stampede concept, having competed in the inaugural match at Double or Nothing 2020 alongside the Inner Circle against The Elite — a match they lost. The Inner Circle returned the following year to defeat The Pinnacle at Double or Nothing 2021 in the second-ever Stampede. The most recent Stampede took place at AEW All In 2023 from Wembley Stadium.
