Following his loss of the AEW World Trios Championship at Collision: Maximum Carnage, speculation regarding Powerhouse Hobbs’ future reached a fever pitch. Now, it appears the “Embassy” powerhouse has officially crossed the line. According to a new report from Fightful Select, the internal belief within WWE is that Hobbs has signed a contract with the company.
Heading to the Rumble?
While Hobbs has not yet been spotted backstage at a WWE event, sources close to the situation claim the deal is done. WWE has reportedly held interest in the star for several years, looking to acquire him long before his AEW deal expired. Although Fightful could not confirm specific creative plans, sources noted that Hobbs is expected to be present during Royal Rumble weekend.
With the Royal Rumble scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on January 31, a surprise debut in the 30-man match would be a massive stage for his introduction. If the reports hold true, Hobbs marks another significant defection in the ongoing talent trade between the two major promotions.
