WWE SmackDown is facing a perfect storm of ratings challenges in the coming weeks. Due to Olympic coverage on NBC, the blue brand will be temporarily bumped to SyFy, maintaining its regular 8:00 PM EST slot and three-hour format. However, experts are predicting a harsh drop in viewership.
A Tough Battle Ahead
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported that the show could hit record-low numbers. He explained that SmackDown historically suffers when moved to SyFy, but the situation is compounded by going head-to-head with the Winter Olympics in prime time.
“SmackDown has historically taken a hit whenever it is bumped to SyFy… simply being off the regular channel is a major disadvantage, and the head‑to‑head battle with one of television’s biggest sporting events makes the situation even more difficult.”
The show is not scheduled to return to the USA Network until February 27, 2026, meaning WWE will have to weather at least two weeks of unusually weak ratings before heading into the Elimination Chamber.
